The Test Format of Reading 4 (For Group 2 - Interactions)

The test consists of two parts and will be completed within 90 minutes.
Part 1: Reading 1 (7ms)

• You are going to read a 650 word-article about one of the four topics Fashion, Global Trade, Language & Communication, and Art & Archaeology.

• After reading the article carefully, you answer the following questions.

Section 1 (3ms): Literal questions
 Content: These questions ask you to find information that is directly stated in the text.
 Question type: multiple choice answers – you choose the correct answers (each with 4 or 5 options)
 Number: 10 items
Section 2 (2ms): Inferential questions
 Content: These questions ask you to draw inferences, to recognize what is implied, to use prior knowledge, to attach different meanings to previous knowledge or assumptions, and to get the main idea of the text .
 Question type: questions – you write full sentence answers.
 Number: 4 items
Section 3 (2ms): One creative question
 Content: This question asks you to make judgements or evaluations, and to express thoughts and opinions that extend the ideas presented in the text.
 Question type: One question – you write a short paragraph answer.
 Marking criteria: Marks will be awarded according to the three main criteria: relevant content, appropriate use of grammar and vocabulary, spelling and punctuation.
Part 2: Reading 2 (3ms)
 The final reading selection is a TOEFL iBT about Animal or History.
 You read the test, 10 multiple choice questions and then choose the best answers.
